Come hear Darren Donovan play guitar pieces with a holiday twist at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Vergennes!
Born and raised in Lower Manhattan, Darren Donovan took to a love of music. From an early age he was exposed to a community where he could hear the sounds coming from the local coffee houses and nightclubs on nearby McDougal Street and at the age of 8 he received lessons from Mayor of McDougal Street and local music staple, Dave Van Ronk. His poetry and short stories earned him a scholarship where he studied social work and became an early street outreach provider for homeless persons with AIDS. He has resided in Vermont for 25 years and works with various social service agencies in the area.
St. Paul's concerts are free and open to the public. Bring your lunch or grab a bite downtown before or after. So far this year, we enjoyed Celtic harp on St. Patrick's Day, organ music on Juneteenth, and the Addison Quartet played Dvořák and David Bowie. Sallie Mack and her friend Rosi Gowdey came to play on Nov. 24th. Sallie was a founding artist at the Ripton Community Coffee House. Their series ended in May 2024 after twenty-nine years! Sallie and Rosi will return on Dec. 22nd.
We look forward to seeing you!
We apologize that our permanent wheelchair ramp is under construction in the alleyway between the church and Vergennes Opera House/City Hall. It will be ready next spring.
