Please join us in welcoming Mary Jane Simpson to our constellation! Mary Jane is in her first year in the hybrid Masters of Divinity program at General Theological Seminary. Hybrid programs meet in-person three weeks of the year with the rest of the learning taking place online and in churches ("contextual education"). Mary Jane's call is to parish ministry, so she will serve in our constellation, which includes St. Paul's and All Saints in South Burlington. The Bishop places seminarians in constellations now because most of Vermont's parishes will exist that way in the future. Rev. Ann Boyd from All Saints will assist our priest Anne in meeting the seminary's program requirements for supervisors.
In September, Mary Jane will meet our congregations, observe worship, and write up a plan for this semester that will include leading Morning Prayer, preaching, observing vestry meetings and Mutual Ministry Review sessions, and more at St. Paul's and All Saints.
Mary Jane has a Ph.D. in Chemistry and works as a chemistry lab professor at Middlebury College. Her sending parish is St. Stephens, Middlebury. For more biographical information, read her Middlebury faculty webpage. We are truly blessed to have Mary Jane with us!
